Calling all thrill-seekers! Are you looking for an event that’s sure to get your blood pumping? Something that’s going to make your jaw drop? An event that combines excitement and suspense with pure, unparalleled skill?

Well, you’re in luck: Nitro Circus 2024 is unfolding as we speak — and there’s still time for you to secure your spot in the stands.

Renowned as one of the most exhilarating event series in motorsport history, Nitro Circus unites extreme sports athletes and enthusiasts alike. A unique blend of creativity and courage, these live shows are guaranteed to stick with you long after the last trick.

What is Nitro Circus?

The brainchild of stunt performer, Travis Pastrana, and his group of equally thrill-seeking friends, Nitro Circus started out as a homegrown operation. But years on, it’s become one of the most widely recognized action sports collectives in the world.

In 2003, Pastrana and his crew started filming their high-flying flips and tricks, self-producing and publishing these videos. Before long, they had developed a cult following — so much so that they landed their own deal with MTV to create a Nitro Circus TV show in 2009.

A year later, in 2010, the team brought Nitro Circus to the live stage, hosting their first live performance in Brisbane, Australia. The show brought together athletes from all kinds of extreme sports, including skateboarding, BMX, freestyle motocross (FMX), and more. These live shows — including Nitrocross competitions — have become one of Nitro Circus’ most exciting annual offerings. This year is no exception, with world-class athletes touring the United States for Nitro Circus 2024.

The Ones to Watch: Nitro Circus Key Players

Every Nitro Circus lineup is packed with larger-than-life personalities and gravity-defying athletes. Below are some of the biggest names you’ll want to keep your eye on in each category:

  • FMX: Without question, one of the most successful athletes on this year’s Nitro Circus roster is Adam Jones. An eight-time X Games medalist, Adam is known around the world for his incredible skill and resilience, having overcome a career-threatening injury only to come back better than ever. Another one to watch is Canadian Kassie Boone, who’s been riding since the age of 5. Having claimed first place at the MMRS Women’s Pro National competition in 2016, she’s been helping to carve a path forward for women in motorsports throughout her career.

  • BMX: Brady Baker is no stranger to breaking records. Earlier in Nitro Circus 2024, Brady landed the world’s first 720 Triple Whip to Bar Spin — a mindblowing trick that had everyone’s jaws on the floor. With no plans of slowing down, Brady might just have a few more impressive feats like that up his sleeve. It’s also worth keeping an eye on Australian Ryan Williams, who’s known for pushing boundaries and redefining what’s possible on the bike. Holding both Nitro World Games (NWG) and X Games gold medals, his daring tricks have landed him some of the most prestigious accolades in the world.
  • Contraptions: A contraptions and mountain biking enthusiast, Dusty Wygle describes himself as a “professional fun haver.” The title has proven pretty accurate over the years, with Dusty combining his fearlessness with a lust for fun. One of his most playful (and impressive) accomplishments was landing the world’s first-ever kids’ trike double flip, which you can watch here.
  • Skate: They say birds of a feather flock together — and that was definitely the case for Travis Pastrana and his wife, Lyn-Z Pastrana, one of the top skate performers at Nitro Circus 2024. A trailblazer in the skate world, Lyn-Z is the first female skater to conquer the DC mega ramp and the first female to land a 540 McTwist.
  • Wheelchair Motocross (WCMX): Aaron “Wheelz” Fortheringham has never let his disability hold him back from pursuing his passion for motocross. In 2010, he made a grand entrance into the sport by landing the first-ever backflip on a wheelchair. Since then, he’s made a name for himself as one of the biggest boundary-pushers the extreme sports world has ever seen.

Nitro Circus 2023 Recap: The Biggest and Best Moments

While you might be chomping at the bit to experience this year’s excitement, it’s worth taking a look back at some of last year’s highlights.

One of them was Beaver Fleming finally landing the trick he’s been chasing for over 10 years: the world’s first public double backflip on a skateboard. Although Beaver had successfully landed the trick years prior in Travis Pastrana’s backyard, no one was watching. From that moment, Beaver couldn’t help but wonder if he could land the trick in front of a crowd. In October 2023, during the Nitro Circus 20th Anniversary Tour, that’s exactly what he did. Check out the video below to watch the amazing stunt and hear Beaver’s thoughts on it:

Another unforgettable moment from Nitro Circus 2023 was Aaron Fotheringham crushing an Aussie Roll, a trick that involves a double backflip 360 (also known as a double cork 1080). In 2016, Travis Pastrana became the first person to land an Aussie Roll on a mountain bike. In 2023, Aaron Fotheringham put his own spin on the trick by performing it in his wheelchair.
